Back Matter: Why you should Read my Books on EGOnomics.

 Copyright 2026 by Robert Villegas

Why did I write these books, and why did I call my concept of egoism by the name EGOnomics? I believe you need to defend your ego against countless efforts to diminish it. Anti-ego ideologies often equivocate between egoism and narcissism and treat both concepts as if they were the same. The proponents of “anti-ego” do not like to witness a person expressing pride and self-regard. “Who does he think he is?” they ask.
Everywhere we go, the ego is under attack. Reverent Graham says man is a sinner. C. S. Lewis wrote that pride is an evil idea. Everywhere we go we are told to emulate Jesus on the cross as the suffering savior. Having an ego is the one thing we are not supposed to do. Defending our ego, standing up for ourselves, is a crime and a cause for hatred from others. Learning to relate to this world is becoming increasingly more difficult and defending our egos is more important today than ever.
Most people think a book about the ego would enable childish impulses and narcissistic thoughts. “Don’t try to play God,” they say. In today’s society, an egoist is thought to be a “bad actor” unworthy of respect and appreciation. For thousands of years, such people have been hated and pushed out of “polite society”.
In my books I want to straighten out our understanding of the human ego, and I want to give you tools to help you feel better about putting yourself first. I want you to understand that your ego is part of your makeup, natural, and there should be no guilt associated with it.
First, you must learn that egoism is a positive human trait that has been denigrated because it should be the “first focus” of the individual. Egoism, and its expression, selfishness, are not evil, they represent innocent love that the individual should express to him- or herself. Secondly, narcissism, often thought to be associated with egoism, is not egoism – and it is upon this difference that society and morality have gone wrong.
Indeed, many of our encounters with people are fraught with cruelty and conflict. This is because of the false notion that being self-focused is wrong. The result of “holding egoism down” in society is that many people are unaware they have rights, and they are unaware they can assert their rights regardless of what anyone says, and, most importantly, praising and encouraging egoism is the just way to build the best type of civilization, a free society.
I will explain here why you need these books. The greatest obstacle to the enjoyment of life, the enjoyment of individuality, and the enjoyment of the self is what I call moral triangulation. I have written about it extensively in books such as “Behind the Ritual Mask” and “Robert’s Razor". In my books, I suggest that moral triangulation is designed to prepare your mind for the sacrifice of your personal sovereignty to others and to trap you into a life of servitude and unhappiness. In effect, moral triangulation is the first phase of preparing you for human sacrifice.
To illustrate, moral triangulation consists of three pillars. The first is what I call the acceptance of the chorus which is intended to put other people foremost in your life. The chorus, in effect, sings to you about the glory of spirits and beings who are magical and superior to you. The acceptance of the chorus leaves you susceptible to several types of calls. First there is the “song of sacrifice” which lulls you to sleep and softens you up to the next pillar. Another call that the chorus makes is called the “siren call” which is the use of emergencies that you must join others to solve. This siren call is also called the "all-of-society" gimmick of collective action. Another song is “the siren song” which is the call of beautiful goddesses. It is different from the “siren call” in that with the siren song you are required to love people holding you hostage, so to speak. Another call is the song of the Muses who sing of their love for you and their desire to inspire you to stay with them. This could be the trap of a bad marriage in many cases, but the intent is to keep you trapped in their moral cage.
The second pillar of moral triangulation is called the suffering savior. Once they trap you with their songs (propaganda, misinformation, lies, suggestions, etc.), you have been softened up enough to be susceptible to the moral message that you should emulate a suffering savior (God) and make duty and self-sacrificial the rituals of your morality. This makes you into a morally ravaged individual who must emulate your suffering god by suffering yourself – and give up your values (your mind, your soul, your loves, your possessions, your money, your loyalty, your joy, anything you value).
The third pillar of moral triangulation is called the “good/evil paradigm which is also called moral dualism. It is the view that good and evil are intrinsic in nature. Once you accept the idea that good and evil are like entities (God versus Satan for example) understanding the world becomes easier. You no longer need to validate your values by means of reason, determining what is good “for you” as opposed to what is good for the group, you are grist for the mill, so to speak. With this view, good and evil are like spirits roaming around the universe and infesting things with good and evil traits. It means that you can call people evil (the devil, your independent friend, or any person the moral authority wants to destroy), and you must fight them as evil incarnate. Well, neither evil nor good reside within people or things. Only acts can be good or evil and they are chosen. We judge them and act accordingly.
These three pillars of moral triangulation are why you need to read and use these books. You need to become comfortable with your ego because the ego is the enemy that moral triangulation has sought to destroy for centuries. You are only their latest victim, and you need to know how to shed the cobwebs of moral triangulation and open up your mind to the idea of being a sovereign human being who lives a life of reason, purpose and self-esteem. You need to find, discover, and experience what moral triangulation has sought to destroy which is your very self, your mind, your judgment and your true love for true values.
In fact, because of anti-egoism in society, many people are involved in a desperate search for identity. The guilt they are made to feel restricts them from using and understanding their minds and their innocent natures. They are taught to accept criticism aimed at the ego and to hate the selfishness they have naturally felt since childhood.
These conflicted lives are overwhelmed by anti-mind ideas. They do not know how to fight for their egos. The modern culture, based upon altruism and collectivism, has influenced people in society to such an extent that people are immobilized and shackled as individuals. And this is the problem destroying society today.
We must learn to protect our egos from overbearing, unfair, insensitive peers and moral authorities. We must learn to negotiate our way to success among people who do not know what they are doing to us and why. This is why I have written these books.
